About The Position

The Supervisor of Performance Engineering will plan and direct supervise employees engaged in the development and implementation of effective management concepts and research/investigate means of improving methods and reducing costs utilizing Industrial Engineering techniques. This role is responsible for developing and implementing effective management concepts; and researching/investigating improved methods and cost reduction techniques. The supervisor will schedule, assign, and coordinate interdepartmental and intradepartmental activities, review and approve various reports and recommendations to management, and implement projects. They will supervise the overall operation of the assigned area, coordinate the presentation and communication of project information such as work force planning, work measurement, and budgetary review. The position also involves reviewing governmental regulations and coordinating the development and implementation of plans to comply. The supervisor will meet and counsel with Management personnel in determining priorities, introducing new work procedures, and introducing industrial engineering programs. They are responsible for overall crew operations, including testing/implementation of new procedures/functions in the Work Scheduling and Work Forecasting subsystems and development/implementation of performance measurement systems. The supervisor is expected to stay abreast of new developments, techniques, and governmental regulations related to the field of Industrial Engineering.

Requirements

  • A valid driver's license from state of residence is required.
  • A valid Tennessee Professional Engineer's license (P.E.) is required.
  • Bachelor's degree in industrial engineering, and/or a related field from an ABET accredited institution is required.
  • 4-6 years of project study experience in industrial engineering.
  • Must successfully complete Supervisor Assessment Center training within 90 days of hire.
  • Must successfully complete NIMS Training within 1 year of entering job.
  • Must have an occupationally significant combination of leadership abilities to motivate and direct employees.
  • Must have intellectual capacity to comprehend and apply engineering, scientific or technical principles/methods.
  • Must have mathematical ability.
  • Must have proven analytical, problem solving and decision-making abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Train, direct and supervise employees within the area of responsibility having the authority to hire, transfer, promote, discipline, discharge, handle grievances and other managerial functions.
  • Responsible for developing and implementing effective management concepts; and researching/investigating improved methods and cost reduction techniques.
  • Schedule, assign and coordinate interdepartmental and intradepartmental activities for area.
  • Review/approve and coordinate various reports and recommendations to management; implement projects.
  • Supervise the overall operation of the assigned area.
  • Coordinate the presentation and communication of project information such as work force planning, work measurement, budgetary review, etc.
