WHY: As the leader of this team, your mission is to drive the advancement and deployment of next-generation manufacturing technologies. You will guide and mentor software developers in rapidly designing, building, and implementing innovative electrical and software solutions that support evolving manufacturing needs. Your leadership will be pivotal in navigating fast-paced development cycles, fostering creativity, and ensuring robust integration of complex firmware and embedded systems. You will be responsible for championing collaboration across departments, empowering your team to deliver impactful results, and ensuring the seamless adoption of cutting-edge technologies on the manufacturing floor. WHAT: As a Supervisor, you will lead and develop a team of software and firmware developers, ensuring the delivery of reliable solutions for GM Manufacturing tools and processes. You will set expectations, monitor performance, and cultivate a collaborative, people-first environment. HOW: Supporting the plants to make it happen for our customers. The successful candidate is expected to report to the Warren Tech Center on a full-time basis. This role requires up to 15% domestic and international travel.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience coding in one or more of the following: C, C++, Java, or Python.
  • 2+ years of leadership experience (e.g., lead developer, scrum lead, supervisor).
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field; or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with software development tools and workflows (e.g., GitHub, DevOps, Bitbucket).
  • Experience with issue‑tracking systems (e.g., Jira, DevOps, PRTS).
  • Experience with manufacturing electrical processes and/or End‑of‑Line (EOL) testing.
  • Hands‑on experience with vehicle communication protocols such as CAN, LIN, and DoIP.
  • Knowledge of vehicle electrical and mechanical systems, including electrical architectures.
  • Strong technical communication skills in English.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with PCB design, including schematic creation, layout development, signal integrity, power distribution, and EMI/EMC considerations.
  • Experience with diagnostic protocols such as DoIP, SoAD, and UDS, along with tools like Vehicle Spy, CANoe, or similar.
  • Familiarity with End‑of‑Line assembly verification systems (e.g., GTS).
  • Previous direct people‑leadership experience.
  • Manufacturing experience.

  • Team Operations: Lead weekly team meetings to communicate expectations, review progress, and provide business updates.
  • Performance Management: Establish performance goals, conduct evaluations, and deliver actionable feedback to support growth and high performance.
  • Training & Skill Development: Identify skill gaps, provide learning opportunities, and strengthen overall team capability.
  • Decision Making: Leverage data to make informed, timely decisions that support team and organizational goals.
