About The Position

Enhances the delivery of health services to students through program development and implementation, professional development, and clinical supervision. The Supervisor works directly with school nurses, health assistants, and other school-based personnel to provide a safe and healthy learning environment for all students and employees. Education, Training, and Experience: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a master's degree in a field related to health services, such as nursing, health education, and public health. Five years of successful nursing experience, two of which must have been as a school nurse or nurse practitioner in a school. Experience in health care supervision or health care administration is preferred. Licenses and Certificates: Possession of a current, active, MarylandState license as a registered nurse is required. Certification in Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation for Healthcare Providers is required. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of health services provision and administration. Demonstration of outstanding oral and written communication skills. Demonstration of strong leadership, communication and human relations skills. Technology competency. Knowledge of and skill in the use Microsoft Office and related applications. Knowledge of and skill in data analysis. PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS: The work of this class is generally sedentary and performed in an office environment. Work requires the operation of an automobile to travel to work sites throughout Baltimore County. Work includes the operation of office equipment, including personal computers, and occasional limited physical activities. FLSA: Exempt RETIREMENT: Eligible for the Maryland State Retirement System. Assists the Coordinator in the development of school health protocols and procedures. Interprets school health regulations, laws, and policies for school-based administrators, staff and parents. Works with school administrators and school nurses to plan for the provision of health services in the absence of the school nurse, including reassigning health assistants and providing direct services to students. Provides clinical supervision of nurses working in the Infant Toddlers and Child Find programs. Works with school-based administrators and school nurses to assess students' health needs to plan and allocate services and to assess and develop school-wide health programs, including school-based health centers. Develops and provides professional development for school nurses, health assistants and other staff on health-related issues. Collaborates with school nurses and administrators to identify necessary equipment and resources for a quality health services program, including planning for new and renovated health suites. Provides input to the Coordinator regarding the status of school health services in assigned schools. Consults with school teams to plan programs that meet the needs of students with special health concerns. Provides health information to students, staff, parents, and other community partners. Participates in statewide, countywide, and school-based committees to enhance student health and wellness. Works with other offices within the system to provide a coordinated and integrated approach to address the health of students and staff. Performs other additional duties as assigned.

Requirements
