The Quality Assurance Supervisor's primary role is to lead FSQ personnel and ensure adherence to company food safety and quality standards for raw materials, processed products, and processing procedures.

Requirements

Associate degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school and a minimum of 2-5 years related experience in a USDA regulated meat manufacturing facility and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must be HACCP Certified and be willing to become PCQI certified.
Experience interacting with USDA FSIS onsite inspectors.
Experience in managing employees and providing strong leadership and mentorship.
Proven skills evaluating and implementing strategies that improve overall quality and profitability.
Experience in implementing and enforcing policies, programs, and procedures.
Experience in managing multiple projects and assignments.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.
Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Ability to interpret and extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Knowledge of Word Processing software such as Microsoft Word, and Spreadsheet software such as Microsoft Excel.

Bachelor’s degree (B.S.), HACCP/PC certification and process control training preferred.

Responsibilities

Provide oversight to Quality Assurance personnel including training, scheduling, attendance, and guidance for continuous improvement.
Plan, coordinate and provide corrective action follow-up for internal audits including GMP, foreign material (Glass, Brittle Plastic, Metal, Wood and Ceramic) and Food Defense.
Provide technical assistance to operations regarding process deviation reports and product specifications.
Oversee management of retained product and investigate, as needed, to determine final disposition of product under the guidance of the Manager of Quality Assurance.
Perform documentation review, HACCP verification activities (Pre-Shipment Review, Cook System Verifications (in RTE plants), Direct Observations) and SSOP monitoring activities (pre-operational and operational) as necessary.
Assist 3rd party and customer audits and proper Receiving checks/procedures.
Execute the requirements of the environmental monitoring programs including weekly and monthly microbiological testing as required; taking appropriate actions to ensure compliance.
Communicate deficiencies and Continuous Improvement opportunities to Quality Assurance and Operations Management; support the CAPA and implementation of process changes.
Maintains continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
Maintain safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
Promote, adhere, and be responsible for Food Safety and Quality.
Develop QA Leads, QA Techs, and serve as back up to QA Manager as needed.
Ensure the QA Leads and QA Technicians are properly following the prescribed procedures to comply with regulatory, customer, and company standards.
Manager hourly staff regarding scheduling, PTO approval and coverage, timecard review, and ensure proper coverage of the areas of responsibility.
Provide support to the second shift FSQ team during shortages or outages, as needed.
Own the management of pre-requisite programs for calibration, pest control, environmental monitoring, CCP monitoring, pre-operational inspection, and internal auditing.
Support and attend audits for the facility (FDA, BRC, USDA, and Customer).
Support Customer Complaint investigations.
Enter Customer Complaint into FoodLogiq/Intelex database.
Support the Vendor Claim reporting process.
Ensure laboratory supply levels are maintained for operation of the laboratory.
Support foreign material investigations with cross-functional team members (Operations, Maintenance, Logistics).
Will be a member of the plant Food Safety Team and will attend the regularly scheduled meetings.
Perform any other related duties as assigned.
