With over 97,000 employees across 130 countries and a network of more than 2,400 offices and laboratories, SGS provides quality and safety assurance to nearly every industry. The Supervisor, Field Operations role is responsible for coordinating and overseeing US Energy Minerals operations, specifically the inspection of client samples, such as Wood Pellet Fuel and Coal Samples, as they come off vessels. This position involves leading a team of Field Services Technicians, which includes scheduling daily tasks, training employees, and assigning and directing work. The role also involves conducting regular employee meetings to communicate policies, procedures, performance issues, and to foster development and improvement. The supervisor works collaboratively with other Technicians to resolve client problems and maintain quality and customer satisfaction standards. Ensuring that each Field Technician has adequate information, resources, and materials for safe job performance is also a critical duty. Depending on business needs, the role may also encompass Preparation or Laboratory responsibilities. Adherence to internal standards, policies, and procedures is required, and the supervisor will perform other assigned duties.
