SUPERVISOR, DEATH INVESTIGATIONS-(MEDICAL EXAMINER'S OFFICE) ACTIVELY RECRUITED
About The Position
Supervisor, Deah Investigations, provides day-to-day work direction and supervision to maintain steady workflow and productivity for death investigations. Assist in the development and implementation of policies and procedures related to investigations. Assist with the coordination and oversight of all death investigations and aid in the determination of causes and manners of death in assigned cases. Assist with work activities of lower-level death investigators. Participate in the oversight, development, and maintenance of investigation files and databases. Provide technical guidance and assist in the development and coordination of leadership's responses to mass fatality incidents. Answer questions related to death investigations and address non-standard issues.
Requirements
- Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree or higher
- Four (4) years of experience in death/criminal investigations or directly related experience.
- Two (2) years of prior supervisory experience
- Certification from the American Board of Medicolegal Death Investigators (ABMDI) within one year of hire.
- Valid driver’s license and proof of automobile insurance.
- Ability to obtain and maintain license and/or certification requirements is required.
- This position is considered a safety-sensitive position. Candidates who are selected to fill safety-sensitive positions must pass a required drug test as part of the pre-employment background check process.
- Knowledge of the policies, procedures, and practices of the Medical Examiner's office.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and kinesiology.
- Ability to analyze and interpret observations, statements, and medical records relative to reported deaths.
- Knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite and ability to navigate the office's Laboratory Information Management System.
- Ability to work in a morgue environment with exposure to unpleasant sights and smells, blood, and other body fluids.
- Ability to enable a collaborative and teaming culture and provide day to day direction of tasks.
- Ability to perform escalated or more highly complex work similar to the work done by staff being supervised.
- Ability to effectively delegate tasks to staff and collaborate with leadership to achieve organizational or department success.
- Ability to align team's tasks with departmental procedures and objectives and serve as a reliable resource for other employees in an area of expertise.
- Heavy Work involves exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
