Program and Role Summary: Wayfinder’s Davidson Program for Independence at the Los Angeles campus is a comprehensive residential rehabilitation program for adults ages 18 and older who are blind or visually impaired, many with recent vision loss. Participants learn assistive technology, orientation and mobility, braille, and independent living skills. Each client pursues individualized goals that lead to a confident transition to an independent life and education or employment. The primary focus of the Supervisor, Adult Services is to assist the Director of Adult and Transition Services with oversight and leadership of the Davidson Program for Independence, the OIB program, and the Employment Services programs to ensure client needs and goals are met. This includes facilitating the delivery of all training aspects of these programs and coordinating the adult instructional and residential components, including oversight of the program facilities and equipment and coordination of the program's policies, procedures, and practices.

Requirements

  • At a minimum, an associate degree from an accredited university in a related field, including education, social work, management, or administration; a bachelor’s degree is preferred.
  • A minimum of two years of experience working with people with visual impairments is required.
  • Willingness and ability to make frequent field visits and attend meetings, conferences, and other job-related events away from headquarters.
  • If driving a personal vehicle, must be approved by our agency’s automobile insurance carrier.

  • A bachelor’s degree is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Performs various clerical and administrative duties, such as maintaining adequate program inventory, completing forms and reports, and assisting clients with paperwork completion.
  • Coordinates the monthly collection and preparation of billing information and documents required by the California Department of Rehabilitation for the DPI, OIB grant, and ES programs.
  • Assists in marketing programs through outreach activities to recruit individuals to participate in the education and training available through the program.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of local and national resources and significant trends in blindness rehabilitation and employment development for people with disabilities through a review of the literature and participation in seminars.
  • Maintain and audit client information in network files, physical files, and the electronic record system.
