About The Position

We are seeking a Supervisor, Accounting to lead key accounting functions that support accurate reporting, compliance, and operational excellence across our insurance products. Under the direction of the Director, Accounting, you will oversee statutory corporate financial accounting, reporting, and control processes. This includes providing leadership and guidance to accounting staff responsible for financial reporting, general ledger review, and regulatory filings for Life, Annuities, and Accident & Health Insurance products.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required
  • 5–7 years of progressively responsible accounting experience, including insurance accounting
  • 1–3 years of leadership or supervisory experience
  • Strong understanding of financial reporting, general ledger processes, and internal controls
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Ability to interpret accounting regulations and assess their impact on business processes
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of statutory accounting requirements for Life, Annuities, and Accident & Health products
  • Experience with financial systems and reporting tools; Workday and/or Blackline preferred

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and develop accounting staff, ensuring timely and accurate completion of financial reports
  • Review general ledger accounts and supporting workpapers for accuracy and completeness
  • Coordinate preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with NAIC, federal, and state requirements
  • Establish and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets
  • Monitor and update accounting procedures to ensure compliance with evolving regulations and operational efficiency
  • Partner with internal teams and external auditors, examiners, and consultants to provide required documentation and support audits
  • Oversee escheat reporting processes and ensure compliance with state requirements
  • Participate in corporate and departmental projects, including system updates and process improvements
  • Assist in developing departmental budgets and business plans, and monitor financial performance
