About The Position

As a Superintendent at our Rensselaer (Parr) facility, you will lead the day-to-day operations of the elevator and ensure that all processes run safely, efficiently, and in compliance with environmental and quality standards. You’ll work closely with your team to identify opportunities for improvement, implement solutions, and maintain high-quality grain handling operations. In this role, you’ll set the tone for safety and operational excellence by modeling best practices, addressing potential hazards, and supporting a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience in grain handling or related operations
  • Proven experience (typically 5+ years) in grain handling, elevator operations, or a similar industrial environment
  • Demonstrated leadership in safety programs and process improvement initiatives
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Experience managing teams, schedules, and operational resources
  • Ability to motivate, train, and support team members
  • A hands-on leadership style with a strong sense of ownership, accountability, and commitment to continuous improvement
  • The ability to solve problems independently and make sound decisions
  • Move throughout the facility, including standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and climbing
  • Work in confined spaces and at heights when required
  • Lift up to 50 pounds as part of normal job duties
  • Wear required personal protective equipment, including a respirator
  • Working adjusted hours as needed to support operations

Nice To Haves

  • Proficiency with software such as Microsoft Office (Excel, Project, Word, SharePoint) and maintenance systems (e.g. Maximo) is helpful

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all elevator operations, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant performance
  • Identify and implement improvements to processes, energy use, maintenance, and reliability
  • Maintain grain quality and environmental standards
  • Conduct regular safety and housekeeping audits, and address issues proactively
  • Manage rail track and unloading operations at the facility
  • Lead, mentor, and develop team members through training, feedback, and support
  • Collaborate with commercial and rail logistics teams to ensure smooth coordination
  • Support cross-departmental initiatives and assist other teams as needed
