About The Position

The Rangely School District, Rangely, Colorado , Board of Education, is seeking a highly qualified Superintendent . The Board wishes to have the successful candidate assume the responsibilities of the position July 1, 2026 . McPherson & Jacobson, L.L.C., Executive Recruitment and Development, in association with the Colorado Association of School Boards , has been engaged as the consultant in a search for outstanding candidates. They will assist the Board of Education in identifying and screening the candidates. Enrollment: approximately 441 students across three schools—Parkview Elementary, Rangely Junior/Senior High, and Early Education programs Location: Located in the heart of northwest Colorado, Rangely is a close-knit, rural community known for its innovation, natural beauty, and deep commitment to students. Rangely School District RE-4 and is supported by a dedicated, collaborative staff. The Board seeks a leader who will build upon current successes while addressing the challenges and opportunities facing small rural districts. Rangely School District is part of the Rio Blanco BOCES and the superintendent serves as part of the Superintendent Advisory Council. The Qualifications: Collaborative Leadership and Community Engagement – Builds strong relationships with staff, parents, students, and community partners; communicates transparently and fosters trust. Visionary Educational Leadership – Develops and implements a forward-thinking vision for academic excellence, innovation, and student well-being. Fiscal Responsibility and Strategic Planning – Effectively manages district finances, facilities, and resources; leads strategic planning aligned with board goals and student outcomes. Commitment to Staff Development and Student Success – Recruits and retains high-quality staff and supports professional growth opportunities. Advocacy for Rural Education – Understands the unique strengths and challenges of rural Colorado districts and champions equitable funding and programming for students. Strong Ethical Standards and Accountability – Leads with integrity, transparency, and a focus on measurable results.

Requirements

  • Eligible for or hold a Colorado Administrator/Superintendent License.
  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • Successful administrative experience (superintendent or equivalent leadership role preferred).
  • Proven experience in financial management, community relations, and instructional leadership.
  • Ability to reside in or near Rangely and actively participate in the community.
