About The Position

Job Summary The position is to provide leadership in the areas of operation, maintenance, and construction of systems and infrastructure while assuring system reliability, public and employee safety, cost effectiveness, and proper asset management. Essential Functions Administers the Safety Program for the area of responsibility. Integrates and promotes human performance concepts. Performs regular job site observations. Helps develop and monitor the training of department personnel. Directs daily functions through Supervisors in the areas of field-specific maintenance, construction, and emergency work. Coordinates utilization of company management systems for maintenance areas within the area of responsibility. Reviews maintenance and construction schedules for the area and assures coordination with other departments, districts, customers, and other areas as required. Administers clerical and physical union agreements. Assists in the development of the annual Operating and Maintenance budget. Coordinates with other departments in identifying capital replacement of equipment in their operating area. Approves all timesheets, vacation schedules, and expense accounts within the area of responsibility. Communicate system changes with employees in their area. Reviews reports on abnormal system conditions, analyzes the problem, and initiates corrective measures. Coordinates standby responsibilities for the area. Is engaged in all emergencies pertaining to major equipment and system issues. Works with appropriate groups for restoration of service. Promotes and utilizes company-associated equipment and technology. Participates in interviews of prospective employees and recommends hiring as well as discharging. Periodically assumes the duties of the Regional Manager. Participates on committees and attend seminars as required. Participates in all storm and/or emergency activities across the territory as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or 5+ years of equivalent substation related field experience
  • Completed and successfully passed all formal training classes pertaining to the position
  • Advanced knowledge of electric operations systems and equipment
  • Ability to lead, coach, and develop others
  • Ability to read and interpret maps, prints, records, standards, and engineering drawings
  • Ability to use a PC and associated software
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Effective interpersonal skills; ability to interact with customers and employees
  • Knowledge of budgeting systems
  • Knowledge of Bargaining Unit Agreements
  • Skilled in the Work Management tools and MDT operations
  • Proficient in the construction and maintenance practices within the electric and/or gas operation
  • Ability to manage O&M and Capital Budgets
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 or various software applications.
  • Knowledge of Electric System Emergency and Storm Restoration plans
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Authorized to work in the United States without requiring sponsorship.
