Substation Engineering is an integral part of the Substation Engineering Department at Pacific Gas & Electric Company, supporting the company's $1 billion capital investment in substation and transmission line projects. The department is responsible for the preparation of detailed construction drawings for substations, providing engineering expertise to upgrade, expand, and replace the Company's infrastructure in distribution and transmission substations, offering technical assistance on feasibility studies, and providing construction support and valuable input in evaluating and cross-checking projects. As a summer intern, you will serve as a vital link between the company and the widespread interconnection of generation and substation infrastructure to support increasing capacity demand (residential, commercial, and industrial) and system reliability improvements in California. Your role will include supporting substation projects such as equipment upgrades, capacity expansions, protection and control improvements, and reliability enhancements, while working alongside experienced engineers to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality project execution. This position provides valuable exposure to the design, construction, and operation of critical substation infrastructure. The department is looking for motivated, self-driven individuals who enjoy hands-on engineering, possess excellent communication skills, high energy, and enjoy working in a team environment.
