About The Position

Start Your Career Where Steel Meets Skill If you’ve been learning to weld in school and want real shop experience—not classroom reps—this is your opportunity. At JGM, our Summer Welding Interns work alongside experienced craftsmen fabricating large-scale structural steel components used in bridges, buildings, and industrial projects. This is hands-on, production-based experience where you’ll build skills that translate directly into a full-time career. What You’ll Experience Hands-on welding using FCAW (Flux-Core) —our primary process Working from blueprints and weld symbols in a real production environment Learning proper fit-up, prep, and weld sequencing Use of overhead cranes, material handling equipment, and shop tools Understanding AWS D1.1 and D1.5 welding standards Real-time feedback from experienced welders and supervisors What You’ll Do Assist with fit-up and welding of structural steel components Perform tack welds and production welds under supervision Clean and prep material (grinding, chipping, layout assistance) Support shop operations including material movement and organization Maintain a clean, safe work area and follow all safety protocols What We’re Looking For Currently enrolled in or recently completed a welding program (vo-tech, trade school, or college) Exposure to flux-core welding (preferred) or willingness to learn quickly Ability to read basic blueprints and weld symbols Strong work ethic and willingness to learn in a fast-paced shop Comfortable working on your feet in an industrial environment Reliable and able to work Monday–Friday, 5:00 AM – 3:30 PM Why This Internship Stands Out Real Production Experience: Not practice welds—actual project work Path to Full-Time Employment: Top performers are considered for roles through our Falcon Academy Learn from Craftsmen: Work side-by-side with experienced welders Build Career-Ready Skills: Gain experience employers actually look for Perks Competitive hourly pay Daily snack & drink allowance Exposure to career opportunities in both fabrication and field construction About JGM At JGM, we challenge the industry’s status quo—delivering “When You Need It Yesterday” through safety, quality, and speed. Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in or recently completed a welding program (vo-tech, trade school, or college)
  • Exposure to flux-core welding (preferred) or willingness to learn quickly
  • Ability to read basic blueprints and weld symbols
  • Strong work ethic and willingness to learn in a fast-paced shop
  • Comfortable working on your feet in an industrial environment
  • Reliable and able to work Monday–Friday, 5:00 AM – 3:30 PM

Nice To Haves

  • Exposure to flux-core welding (preferred)
