The Maryland Department of Natural Resources (DNR) invites eligible candidates to apply for a volunteer/unpaid internship with the Maryland Park Service, at Assateague State Park. This opportunity will provide hands-on experience in the Wildlife Management and Park Operations field. The main purpose of this position is to assist staff in monitoring and managing the island’s wild horses, educating the public on safety around wildlife, and assisting the park with minimal park operations related to horse management. The internship runs for about 8 weeks from late June through late August. The specific start/end dates, hours, and schedule will be determined in collaboration between the intern and supervisor.
