The Maryland Department of Natural Resources (DNR) invites eligible candidates to apply for a volunteer/unpaid internship with the Maryland Park Service, at Assateague State Park. This opportunity will provide hands-on experience in the environmental education and animal care field. The main purpose of this position is to assist staff in leading curriculum and recreation based lessons for visiting school trips, summer camps, and park visitors. Primary roles will be teaching an assigned lesson plan for field trips and assisting with the care of the education animal ambassadors at the park. The internship runs about 6 weeks between late April through mid-July. The specific start/end dates, hours, and schedule will be determined in collaboration between the intern and supervisor. A longer internship is available if the correct candidate applies.
