About The Position

Overtown Youth Center (OYC Miami) is seeking a committed and caring Summer Program Teacher (Part-Time) to support our Summer Program at our Broward location: 1602 S 27th Avenue, Hollywood, FL 33020. This role is ideal for an educator who is passionate about nurturing student growth and delivering engaging, developmentally appropriate instruction. As a Teacher at OYC Miami, you will be responsible for the care, academic development, and instruction of students within designated age groups, including Elementary, Middle, and/or High School. You will plan, implement, and supervise daily curriculum while creating a safe, supportive, and enriching learning environment. This position requires full availability during all mandatory training sessions and program dates, including June 15–18, 2026, and the Summer Program running from June 22 through July 31, 2026. Time off is not permitted during designated blackout periods, including all program dates. Responsibilities

  • Serve as a liaison between OYC Miami and partner service schools, ensuring effective communication and coordination of services.
  • Demonstrate the ability to instruct students in core subject areas as part of a comprehensive curriculum.
  • Plan, prepare, and implement engaging, developmentally appropriate lesson plans and classroom instruction.
  • Work effectively with high-need and at-risk youth in an out-of-school-time setting, supporting both academic and personal growth.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of student progress, including attendance, assessments, grades, test scores, graduation indicators, and achievements.
  • Assist with field trips, exposure activities, and other enrichment opportunities as required.
  • Collaborate and coordinate services with school staff, program leadership, and other professionals and paraprofessionals.
  • Support student supervision during dismissal and ride the bus as needed.
  • Build and sustain positive, supportive relationships with students to foster a safe and encouraging learning environment.
  • Participate in OYC’s continuous quality improvement initiatives and program evaluations.
  • Attend and actively engage in weekly meetings with the Lead Teacher and/or Program Leadership Team.
  • Participate in required trainings and staff development workshops to support ongoing personal and professional growth.
