About The Position

The Summer Program Ambassadors are on-campus, part-time, seasonal, grant-funded positions which may work between 19-26.5 hours per week based in Champaign, Illinois. Applications accepted through May 1, 2026 at 7PM CT Summer Start Program Ambassadors will support and guide high school students enrolled in our summer college and career prep programs. Ambassadors will be supervised by Staff Leaders within the program and will serve as positive role models, educate students about Parkland College, guide students to various program classes and assist instructors as needed. This position requires strong communication skills and professionalism, as Ambassadors will frequently interact with the public. Applicants must be available to work: Ambassador Orientation and Training | May 20 from 10:00 am – 3:00 pm Student/Parent Orientation | May 27 & May 28 from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm Summer Start Program | June 1 to June 11 from 8:45 am – 4:15 pm (Monday through Thursday only) Applicants must submit: An online employment application Cover letter Resume or CV

Requirements

  • Demonstrate the ability to be creative, solve problems, take initiative, be punctual and reliable, manage conflict, and think critically.
  • Exhibit strong teamwork characteristics, interpersonal skills, and be comfortable speaking in front of small audiences.
  • Display a positive attitude, high level of energy, and sense of enthusiasm for Parkland College.
  • Show respect for the diverse Parkland College community and a desire to work well in a diverse setting with groups of students, staff, faculty, administrators, visitors, and family members from various backgrounds and life experiences.
  • Knowledgeable of Parkland College programs, services, campus, etc.
  • Prospective new hires will successfully complete a post offer, pre-employment criminal background check with fingerprinting. The background check review includes, but is not limited to, exclusionary offenses per the Illinois School Code and Title IV of the Higher Education Act.
  • Sponsorship for work authorization is not available for this position.

Responsibilities

  • Assist instructors in the classroom and during demonstrations.
  • Assist with daily check-in and check-out for program participants.
  • Provide directions, lead group tours, and facilitate team-building activities.
  • Serve as a role model, peer mentor, and ambassador of Parkland College and its policies and procedures, offices and divisions, services, and campus life in a professional manner.
  • Facilitate interaction among visitors during tours and orientation sessions.
  • Other duties as assigned.
