About The Position

Law students perform a variety of duties at CLS depending on their experience level and the needs of the particular project or office. Working with a team of dedicated and rotating staff in this fast-paced environment, housing unit attorneys provide advice and brief services to applicants .

Requirements

• Strong commitment to legal issues affecting low-income individuals
• Strong interest in research, writing and interviewing
• Strong commitment to working with vulnerable individuals, including disabled and elderly clients in need of legal assistance
• Candidate should be confident and able to work both independently and as part of a team

Nice To Haves

• Spanish-speaking ability

Responsibilities

• Assist with the investigation of applicant’s legal issues through client interviews, documentary review, research and analysis
• Assist at one or more of the Housing Unit’s three Eviction Clinics.
• Additional duties may include drafting of advice letter s , pleadings, memoranda and briefs and legal research.
• Assistance with any other tasks necessary to carry out effective representation of clients
