About The Position

Imagine Technical Institute (ITI), in collaboration with Boone Center, Inc., is a vocational training and employment placement provider for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in southwest Missouri. They believe everyone should have the ability to find meaningful work, and through comprehensive training and employment services, they enable each of their clients to have that chance. Their competitive employment program empowers people with disabilities to find and keep jobs in the local community, working alongside non-disabled individuals while earning the same opportunities, benefits, and pay. Vocational training programs, created in partnership with local businesses, result in direct, competitive jobs for students after graduation. As a Summer Job Coach, you will be the driving force behind the students' success in the Summer Work Experience program. Your responsibilities include training and supervising participants, ensuring safety, maintaining documentation, and fostering a positive work experience. Acting as an advocate for both participants and business partners, you will work independently, making decisions crucial to guiding participants toward a successful work experience.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Reliable transportation.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience working with people with disabilities is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting work site personnel in training and supervising participants.
  • Monitoring participant activities and ensuring their safety during the summer work program.
  • Completing all necessary training documentation and reports for the program.
  • Contributing to the development and motivation of participant job skills.
  • Facilitating daily group meetings to foster a collaborative and supportive environment.
  • Communicating with work site personnel regarding any relevant issues.
  • Keeping parents/guardians informed about the progress of summer participants.
  • Fostering relationships between business partner personnel and participants.
  • Supporting students in achieving their outlined goals and plans.
  • Facilitating on-site social skills training as per the curriculum.
  • Providing advice on workplace accommodations if needed for participants.
