About The Position

The summer internship position is being offered to Snoqualmie Tribal students entering 11th grade, 12th grade, or their freshman year of college. The internship program runs a total of 6 weeks and attendance for the full duration of the program is required.

Interns will learn, participate, contribute and engage in the many functions of Tribal administration and the programs and events organized by the Tribe. Interns will spend 4 weeks working in the Snoqualmie Indian Tribe departments, shadowing community organizations and Snoqualmie Tribe enterprises, and participating in professional development workshops. The last 2 weeks, interns will spend time with a department of their choosing, and continue the professional development workshop series, and create the intern final project. Interns will have the opportunity to work on tribal events and the Tribal Canoe Journey (Snoqualmie Tribe students participating in the Canoe Journey will be granted excused absences for the duration of the journey).

Requirements

• Must be available to help at the Back-to-School Event, August 22nd, 2026.
• The work schedule is July 13-August 22 2026, Monday-Thursday, 9AM-4PM
• Must be enrolled in high school or college and must be entering 11th or 12th grade for academic year 2026-2027 or a college freshman.
• Be enrolled in an accredited private or public high school or college or be homeschooled with a set curriculum accepted by the Tribe.
• Must have a valid Washington State Driver’s License during duration of employment or have an alternate source of transportation to and from the Snoqualmie area. (Dependent on schedule you may be required to report to the Administration building, Casino, or Snoqualmie Courts).
• Must have CPR/First aid or will be required to attend training during employment.
• Must have HIPPA training or will be required to attend training during employment.
• Must have a current TB test.
• Must be able to pass a thorough pre-employment background investigation.
• Must agree to be subject to the Tribe's Controlled Substance and Alcohol Testing Policy to include pre-employment screening

Responsibilities

• Must be motivated and open to learning about various careers and fields.
• Participate in Tribal Governance activities, including but not limited to daily department operations and tasks, department meetings, and council meetings, when appropriate, upon the request of supervisor.
• Must complete any work assigned to them by the department during work hours; interns are not permitted to do homework or outside activities while on the job.
• Must work throughout the internship to complete their final project, details of the project will be outlined in the first week of work. A complete project and oral presentation will be required in the last week of work.
• Interns will be evaluated by each department and will be required to provide an evaluation of each department they work in.
• Participate in workforce development and career related training, including but not limited to resume writing, interviewing, career research, and interest exploration.
• The Tribe values its commitment to community service and the well-being of its members. In recognition of this, each employee may be expected to perform duties from time to time which may not be related to their regular responsibilities.
