About The Position

JOB PURPOSE: Under the direction of the Assistant Director of Performance Improvement and Organizational Development, the Summer Intern will have the opportunity to participate in challenging projects that contribute to the success of our organization. The Summer Intern will assist the Quality Department with key activities that allow for knowledge and experience understanding of the organization methodologies and processes in a professional environment. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Education & Training Support Prepare, update, and version-control training materials (slides, handouts, competency checklists). Track attendance, completion, and competency results; maintain training logs and sign-in sheets. Assist with onboarding modules related to quality, compliance, incident reporting, and documentation standards. Coordinate training sessions (calendar invites, rosters, room/virtual logistics, post-session follow-up). Quality Improvement (QI) Support Collect and organize QI data from designated sources; maintain clean, audit-ready files. Update run charts/dashboards; draft meeting-ready summaries with basic data checks. Log QI action items, owners, and due dates; follow up to keep projects on track. Prepare slide-ready visuals and status updates for monthly quality meetings. Regulatory Reporting Preparation Adheres to all applicable compliance requirements and the Code of Conduct. Assist with assembling documentation for regulatory submissions and internal audits. Maintain tracking sheets of reporting deadlines, required elements, and submission status. Organize evidence files (policies, training logs, screenshots) with clear naming conventions and version control. Support pre-survey/audit readiness checks (completeness, consistency, and retrieval testing). Service Determination Requests (SDRs) /Grievances & Appeals Monitor timelines; flag approaching deadlines and missing documentation. Prepare standard correspondence templates for review; file final communications and outcomes. Maintain an organized, audit-ready repository and produce summary reports as requested. Data & Documentation Excellence Apply file management standards (naming conventions, version control). Perform basic data validation and reconcile discrepancies with source owners. Protect PHI/PII and follow privacy/confidentiality protocols at all times. Organize evidence files (policies, training logs, screenshots) with clear naming conventions and version control. Support pre-survey/audit readiness checks (completeness, consistency, and retrieval testing) Administrative & Meeting Support Prepare agendas, minutes, and action logs for quality-related meetings. Manage shared trackers, forms, and inboxes; triage routine inquiries to the right owner. Assist with ad hoc tasks that improve team efficiency and compliance readiness. Maintains departmental quality and productivity goals. Assist with assembling documentation for regulatory submissions and internal audits. Maintain tracking sheets of reporting deadlines, required elements, and submission status.

Requirements

  • Bachelor or Master’s student in health care or related field, with relevant customer service experience and excellent writing skills.
  • Able to pass a typing test with at least 35-40 WPM and with 90% of accuracy.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills (grammar, spelling, and punctuation)
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and meet assigned deadlines
  • Excellent organizational skills, accuracy and attention to detail
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and be flexible.
  • Ability to operate both independently and collaboratively as required
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, including Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Individuals must be able to sustain certain physical requirements essential to the job. This includes, but is not limited to: Standing – Duration of up to 6 hours a day. Sitting/Stationary positions – Sedentary position in duration of up to 6-8 hours a day for consecutive hours/periods. Lifting/Push/Pull – Up to 50 pounds of equipment, baggage, supplies, and other items used in the scope of the job using OSHA guidelines, etc. Bending/Squatting – Have to be able to safely bend or squat to perform the essential functions under the scope of the job. Stairs/Steps/Walking/Climbing – Must be able to safely maneuver stairs, climb up/down, and walk to access work areas. Agility/Fine Motor Skills - Must demonstrate agility and fine motor skills to operate and activate equipment, devices, instruments, and tools to complete essential job functions (ie. typing, use of supplies, equipment, etc.) Sight/Visual Requirements – Must be able to visually read documentation, papers, orders, signs, etc., and type/write documentation, etc. with accuracy. Audio Hearing and Motor Skills (language) Requirements – Must be able to listen attentively and document information from patients, community members, co-workers, clients, providers, etc., and intake information through audio processing with accuracy. In addition, they must be able to speak comfortably and clearly with language motor skills for customers to understand the individual. Cognitive Ability – Must be able to demonstrate good decision-making, reasonableness, cognitive ability, rational processing, and analysis to satisfy essential functions of the job.
