About The Position

The intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties, locations, and responsibilities performed by incumbent(s) in this job. Incumbent(s) may not be required to perform all duties in this description, and incumbent(s) may be required to perform work-related tasks other than those specifically listed in this description. This job description is not a “contract” between the employee and the Authority. The job duties and essential functions may be changed at the discretion of the General Manager. The Summer Intern, Labor and Employee Relations will support the organization’s Labor Relations and Employee Relations functions. This role will assist with labor and employment investigations, collective bargaining agreement (CBA) management, and other employee relations activities. The intern will also provide administrative and clerical support as needed while gaining hands-on exposure to labor and employment practices within a complex organizational environment.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated interest in labor relations or employee relations through coursework, internships, or related experiences.
  • Must be currently enrolled fulltime in an undergraduate or graduate program
  • Must have at least 30 credit hours complete
  • Must have a minimum 3.0 grade point average
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Strong written and oral communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in a government office or a private sector labor environment.
  • Preferred Majors: Political Science, Public Policy, Public Administration, Human Resources, Business, Sociology, Government, Civics, Legal Studies, Law, or similar fields.
  • Strong research skills

Responsibilities

  • Assist with labor and employment investigations, including organizing documentation and preparing supporting materials.
  • Support activities related to collective bargaining agreement (CBA) management and administration.
  • Assist with employee relations matters through research, documentation, and case tracking.
  • Provide general clerical and administrative support to the Labor and Employee Relations team.
  • Help maintain organized records and files related to labor and employee relations matters.
  • Performance of assignments under the direct supervision of a department lead
  • Performance of other work-related duties as needed
