About The Position

The intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties, locations, and responsibilities performed by incumbent(s) in this job. This job description is not a “contract” between the employee and the Authority. The job duties and essential functions may be changed at the discretion of the General Manager. The Summer Intern, IT-Infrastructure will support infrastructure systems by monitoring and providing technical assistance. The intern will work on troubleshooting and implementing new and existing services related to networking and server technologies. At DC Water, we provide more than 700,000 District of Columbia residents and 24.6 million annual visitors with essential water, wastewater, and stormwater services. DC Water also provides wholesale wastewater treatment services for 1.8 million people in Montgomery and Prince George's counties in Maryland, and Fairfax and Loudoun counties in Virginia . Requirements

  • Basic knowledge of networking and server technology.
  • Must be currently enrolled fulltime in an undergraduate or graduate program
  • Must have at least 30 credit hours complete
  • Must have a minimum 3.0 grade point average
  • Ability to troubleshoot and implement network and server-related services
  • Ability to lift at least 40 lbs

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to troubleshoot and implement new and existing infrastructure services
  • Experience configuring network or server equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and provide support for infrastructure systems.
  • Troubleshoot network or server issues and provide solutions for existing and new services.
  • Performance of assignments under the direct supervision of a department lead
  • Performance of other work-related duties as needed
