About The Position

To maintain the grounds throughout the Portage Township School District.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• 1-3 years of experience in general maintenance equipment.
• Mechanically inclined, ability to move heavy equipment
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Holds a valid driver’s license and has reliable transportation to/from work.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance of building interiors, exteriors, and grounds.
• Inspect, maintain, and repair equipment and tools as needed.
• Conduct general repairs, including basic carpentry, painting, plumbing, and electrical work.
• Maintain exterior areas, including sidewalks, parking lots, and landscaped spaces.
• Perform seasonal grounds maintenance , such as mowing, trimming, pruning, snow removal, and salting.
• Operate and maintain equipment such as mowers, tractors, trimmers, and hand tools.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations.
• Monitor inventory and report the need for supplies or repairs.
• Respond to maintenance requests in a timely and efficient manner.
• Assist with setup and teardown for school events and activities.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Building and Grounds.
