Our Summer Internship Program offers temporary, full-time (35 hours per week) employment from June 1, 2026, through August 7, 2026. Work Location: 30-30 Thomson Avenue, LIC, NY 11101 As the City's primary capital construction project manager, DDC builds many of the civic facilities New Yorkers use every day. We provide communities with new or renovated structures such as firehouses, libraries, police precincts, courthouses, senior centers and more. We also improve vital infrastructure. Our staff delivers roadway, sewer, and water main construction projects in all five boroughs. We provide sidewalks, street reconstruction, water mains, sewers, and pedestrian ramps quality infrastructure that is essential for a healthy, resilient city. DDC’s Summer Internship Program is an opportunity for a select group of students to gain valuable experience in the architecture, engineering, design, safety, and construction management professions within a public service context. Students will gain hands-on technical experience through specific field assignments or task specific office work and a mentoring relationship with senior-level technical staff. They will also have the opportunity, through a combination of seminars, site visits, and on-the-job training, to learn about the challenges of upgrading and constructing the City’s public buildings and street infrastructure. Safety and Site Support is comprised of six sections that provide technical support to the Infrastructure and Public Buildings divisions. Technical services include hazardous materials investigations and remediation, environmental assessment and investigations, environmental permitting, geotechnical services, land surveying services, construction safety compliance, material testing and fabrication services, and prevailing wage compliance. The division offers additional support in the field through site quality and safety audits, as well as inspections of various manufacturing plants. The Safety and Site Support Summer Intern will support Safety & Site Support Units’ programs and processes in Construction Safety, Quality Assurance, Land Surveying, Geotechnical Investigations, and/or Environmental and Hazardous Materials Services. The selected candidate will be responsible to assist with monthly report preparation, revision of procedures; maintenance of various applications and databases; and support the Division with data review, scanning, and archiving. Authorization to work in the United States is required for this position.
