About The Position

Bill Wilson Center provides services to children, youth, young adults, and families in Santa Clara County. Additionally, we reach clients through our street outreach and crisis line programs. Bill Wilson Center programs focus on housing, mental health care, supportive services, and advocacy. Bill Wilson Center is committed to working with the community to ensure that every youth has access to the range of services needed to grow to be healthy and self-sufficient adults. Summer Program Coordinator will lead the Bill Wilson Safe Summer Program at the Drop In Center for Youth ages 18-24. This is a temporary position that will consist of 8 weeks FTE, 10 weeks PTE. The weeks will between the months of April-July 2026 The Summer Program Coordinator is responsible for the outreach to youth, hiring summer counselors and programing for the Summer Cohort. The Summer Program Coordinator under the supervision of Division Director will create a safe, fun, and supportive environment for youth who are in need of stabilization due to being at risk

Requirements

  • One to two years related experience and/or training.
  • Must be punctual, efficient and organized.
  • Basic knowledge of crisis intervention and de-escalation strategies is desired.
  • Candidate must have experience working with youth of various racial, ethnic, socioeconomic backgrounds or sexual identity as well as in different cultural environments.
  • Good communication skills is required.
  • Valid California driver's license with access to a personal vehicle, Fingerprint/background check and TB test required.
  • Driving is a requirement of the job. Must have possession of current driver’s license, access to a vehicle and personal automobile insurance.
  • Current CPR and First Aid Certification required (or complete within 30 days of hire).
  • Fingerprinting/background check as required by the Department of Justice and/or Title XXII regulations.
  • TB test required.
  • Ability to resolve conflicts and communicate effectively with partner agencies, donors and youth participants.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Internet software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.
  • Internet research skills are a plus.

  • Supervisory experience is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Hire two summer counselors for the Program.
  • Outreach to enroll youth in the program from the designated service area.
  • Planning of the Program for the Summer Cohort including building of partnerships with providers, speakers.
  • Chaperone and drive youth with the summer counselors for weekly field trips.
  • Mentor, coach, and provide life skills to youth in program.
  • Model age appropriate problem solving skills, conflict resolution and healthy lifestyle choices.
  • Plan group activities.
  • Coordinate recreational activities and participate and/or instruct youth games.
  • Utilize therapeutic interventions and redirection to moderate youth behavior.
  • Provide crisis intervention and de-escalation when crises or conflict arises.
  • Complete daily documentation requirements including expenses tracker sheet.
  • Work with the staff with housekeeping duties in the location to ensure cleanliness and tidiness at all times.
  • Complete final report for the Summer program as required by the grant contract.
  • Regular attendance is a requirement of the position.
  • Other duties as assigned.
