Our Summer Internship Program offers temporary, full-time (35 hours per week) employment from June 1, 2026, through August 7, 2026. Work Location: 30-30 Thomson Avenue, LIC, NY 11101 As the City's primary capital construction project manager, DDC builds many of the civic facilities New Yorkers use every day. We provide communities with new or renovated structures such as firehouses, libraries, police precincts, courthouses, senior centers and more. We also improve vital infrastructure. Our staff delivers roadway, sewer, and water main construction projects in all five boroughs. We provide sidewalks, street reconstruction, water mains, sewers, and pedestrian ramps quality infrastructure that is essential for a healthy, resilient city. DDC’s Summer Internship Program is an opportunity for a select group of students to gain valuable experience in the architecture, engineering, design, safety, and construction management professions within a public service context. Students will gain hands-on technical experience through specific field assignments or task specific office work and a mentoring relationship with senior-level technical staff. They will also have the opportunity, through a combination of seminars, site visits, and on-the-job training, to learn about the challenges of upgrading and constructing the City’s public buildings and street infrastructure. The Project Controls division is dedicated to advancing DDC’s core mission of delivering projects on time and on budget. The division provides institutional data analytics service and helps DDC adopt best practices in schedule, cost, and risk management. The team is comprised of professionals with experience and knowledge in data analytics, risk, cost, and schedule management. The Project Controls division provides project-level support to individual projects as well as programmatic and advisory support. The Project Controls Unit is seeking a summer intern to support in the advancement of delivering projects on time and on budget.

Requirements

  • As of June of the Program year the prospective intern must be a student matriculated in a college or be a recent college graduate (winter/spring term of the Program year).
  • Authorization to work in the United States is required for this position.
  • Applicants are responsible for ensuring that they meet all qualifying requirements for this position, at the time of application.

Responsibilities

  • Work with data and documents for construction projects in and around New York City including document management and data analytics
  • Using tools like PowerBI (for building dashboards and performing quick descriptive statistics), python (to build machine learning/AI solutions), & Azure based tools to automate tasks and data flows (e.g. synapse pipelines and logic apps)
