About The Position

Gateway SRA is looking for warm, enthusiastic, and patient individuals interested in being a Summer Day Camp Site Supervisor. Site supervisors are individuals looking to develop career-building skills such as leadership, planning, organization, communication, problem-solving and relationship management abilities. Day Camp Site Supervisor is to act as a liaison between the Day Camp Director and their assigned site. S.S. are the leader in charge of the day to day operations of camp. S.S. maintain a calm camp environment and actively regulate the needs of all campers and counselors. S.S. are responsible for the supervision of all counselors and activities coordinators assigned to their camp. S.S. maintain regular and consistent communication with the Day Camp Director, parents/guardians and community members. Requirements

  • Must be at least 21 years old or prior experience leading camps
  • Ability to pass a background check
  • Valid driver's license
  • First Aid and CPR (will provide training if needed)

Responsibilities

  • Leading a team of camp counselors
  • Planning and implementing diverse activities for daily and weekly schedule like arts and crafts, sports, swimming, outdoor games, nature exploration, and themed programs based on age-appropriate interests with focus on fostering independent play, sensory play, group games and outdoor activities
  • Planning activities, managing supplies, and maintaining a structured schedule
  • Confidence in leading groups, motivating children, and making quick decisions
  • Actively monitoring campers during all activities including mealtimes, ensuring compliance with safety protocols, and responding to any accidents or emergencies.
  • Actively monitoring camp counselors, providing feedback, helping to train or teach them in areas that they are unfamiliar or need extra assistance in.
  • Recommend and implement all behavior techniques at assigned camp site. Train and assist counselors in the same.
  • Maintaining order and positive group dynamics, resolving minor conflicts, and providing guidance to campers.
  • Regularly updating parents on camper progress, addressing concerns, and maintaining open communication with parents and staff.
  • Maintaining attendance logs, activity reports, and documenting incidents and behaviors, parent communications, petty cash.
  • Working effectively with other counselors and camp staff to deliver a cohesive program and a positive and inclusive camp environment
