About The Position

This position is responsible for the successful coordination, planning, and facilitation of the Camden County PSA Summer Camp Program

Requirements

  • High School Diploma required
  • Knowledge and passion for youth development
  • Well-organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities
  • Personable, nurturing and energetic
  • Resourceful and strong critical-thinking skills
  • Knowledge of development needs of youth; behavior management techniques, safety regulations and emergency procedures
  • Skill in supervisory and management principles and practices
  • Skill in handling sensitive information and maintaining confidentiality
  • Skill in team building, training, evaluating, and instructing staff
  • Skill in preparing budget analysis, cost projections, and cost-benefit analyses
  • Skill in word processing, presentations, spreadsheets, and email software.
  • Skill in conflict resolution
  • Ability to act calmly and effectively in emergency situations
  • Ability to motivate staff
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of camp staff, campers, parents

Nice To Haves

  • College degree preferred
  • Preferably two or more years of experience in Childhood and Youth Development

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the efficient and effective day-to-day operations of the summer camp program
  • Develop, implement, and coordinate daily activities, special events, and field trips
  • Develop and oversee the training, supervision, and evaluation of the seasonal staff of the Summer Camp Program, i.e., Assistant Camp Counselor, Lead Camp Counselors, and Camp Counselors
  • Recruit, hire, supervise, and support camp staff
  • Establish and develop policies and procedures for PSA Summer Camp programs following best practices
  • Ensure compliance with all safety standards, health regulations, and licensing requirements
  • Actively engage in risk management for all aspects of the summer camp program
  • Manage the camp budget, including expenses, payroll, and purchasing supplies
  • Communicate effectively with parents, guardians and the community, including addressing concerns promptly
  • Assist with marketing efforts to promote camp registration, including creating content for social media and brochures
  • Manage inventories of equipment and supplies
  • Monitor the changing context within which the camp’s programs and services are provided
  • Work collaboratively with camper families to build relationships and ensure high level support of campers
  • Monitor staff timesheets and approves timesheets for payroll
