About The Position

Sportyard is a high-energy youth sports and fitness facility combining real athletic development with trick-shot style games and challenges. Our summer camps are a core experience for families and one of the most visible parts of our brand. Camp dates: June 8th - July 31st Learn more about camps here: https://mysportyard.com/camps The Role We’re hiring a Summer Camp Director to fully own our 8-week summer camp program. This role is the single point of accountability for all camp planning, staffing, execution, and parent communication. You own camps end-to-end. If something goes right or wrong with camps, it’s yours. Why This Role Matters Summer camps are one of Sportyard’s most important experiences. Requirements

  • 3+ years experience leading youth camps, programs, or large groups of kids
  • Prior experience supervising staff
  • Calm, confident, and authoritative presence with kids and adults
  • Strong communication skills with parents
  • High energy and comfort in a fast-moving environment

Nice To Haves

  • YMCA, rec department, school, or private camp leadership background
  • CPR / First Aid certified (or willing to certify)
  • Experience managing safety and behavior at scale

Responsibilities

  • Own daily camp operations across all weeks and age groups
  • Ensure camps run safely, smoothly, and on schedule
  • Uphold Sportyard’s standards for energy, structure, and kid experience
  • Hire, train, and manage camp counselors to assist you
  • Create daily staff schedules and assignments
  • Set expectations, give feedback, and handle performance issues
  • Be visible and present on the floor every day
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for camp parents
  • Handle questions, concerns, schedule changes, and issues calmly and professionally
  • Proactively communicate when adjustments or updates are needed
  • Enforce all safety protocols, rules, and behavioral standards
  • Manage minor incidents and escalate serious issues appropriately
  • Ensure kids are engaged, included, and having a positive experience
  • Lead pre-camp planning and staff training
  • Coordinate camp themes, daily schedules, and activities
  • Help refine camp structure and improvements for future summers
