About The Position

Are you an enthusiastic and friendly person that loves working with diverse groups of people in a natural outdoor setting? Our Adventure Camp Specialists possess comprehensive knowledge of team building adventure activities . There are two Specialists that work together to plan and lead character and community building activities for campers from ages 10-15. They must be willing to Zipline with the campers, be in good health, weigh between 70 and 275 pounds, and be at least 4'10". Previous team building adventure facilitation and/or camp experience is preferred. We can train candidates who lack this type of experience. Must be available for the following training dates: Team Building Training: May 5th to May 9th and 21 -22 Canopy Zipline Training: May 15th - 20th Camp Staff Training: June 8th to June 12th Position Type: Seasonal/Full-Time (Monday - Friday) Season: June 8h-Augst 15th Training: June 8th - 12th Compensation: $11.00/hour during training weeks then $14/hour during the camp season (June 15th-August 15th)

Requirements

  • Desire to work with children ages 10 - 13 years old.
  • Desire to work outdoors in a variety of weather and appreciates a fixed Monday - Friday schedule.
  • Regularly exposed to outdoor weather elements: rain, dry, humid, hot conditions.
  • Must be at least 18 years old and possess a High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Must successfully pass the FBI/BCI Background Check.
  • Must successfully complete Summer Camp Training, Team Building Training and Canopy Zipline Training

Nice To Haves

  • Previous team building adventure facilitation and/or camp experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Create, plan, conduct, and evaluate various day camp activities based on assigned specialty area, weekly camp themes, and Common Grounds Camp Philosophy for this age groups (10 - 13 years old).
  • Create a fun, actively engaging and secure atmosphere for exploration and learning.
  • Assist with the personal health concerns of campers that are in your care.
  • Actively participate in the daily opening and closing of camp during the season.
  • Follow and uphold all safety and security rules, policies, and procedures.
