Job Summary Raymond James is seeking a Seasonal Associate to support Procurement Operations over the summer by applying industrial engineering and Lean Six Sigma principles to a high-volume, cross-functional workflow. This role will partner closely with Industrial Systems Engineers and Procurement stakeholders to analyze how work moves through the Procurement Request Form (PRF) process, identify drivers of long cycle times and variation, and recommend practical, data-informed improvements that make the process faster, more predictable, and higher quality. By the end of the role, you will have helped create a data-backed baseline of the PRF workflow, described the key sources of variability, and identified which industrial/process engineering concepts are most applicable for improving throughput and predictability - setting the foundation for future improvement work. The summer associate position is a temporary role. Start Date: Monday, June 1 , 202 6 End Date: Friday, August 7 , 202 6 Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, up to 40 hours per week.

Requirements

  • Fundamental knowledge of process improvement concepts: process mapping, basic statistics, cycle time/throughput concepts, and root cause analysis.
  • Strong analytical ability and comfort working with operational data.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365.
  • Exposure to Lean / Six Sigma tools.
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing and quality management concepts: Value Stream Mapping, SIPOC, 5 Whys, Fishbone, Pareto analysis; basic queueing concepts, variability, standard work, takt/flow.
  • Process mapping and workflow documentation.
  • Cycle time analysis (distributions, percentiles, aging, variability).
  • Identifying bottlenecks and constraints in a multi-step system.
  • Root cause analysis and stakeholder evaluation.
  • Basic time study concepts applied to knowledge work.
  • Translating data into actionable recommendations.
  • Communicating findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Freshman or Sophomore standing ( December 202 7 -May 202 9 graduates) pursuing a bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or related field.
  • Any equivalent combination of experience, education, and/or training approved by Human Resources.
  • Eligible applicants must be legally authorized to work in the US and not require visa sponsorship now or in the future (including beyond OPT/EAD)

  • Data/analytics tools experience: Arena Simulation, Power BI, Tableau, SQL, Python, R, Minitab, JMP.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in baselining and measuring the current PRF workflow using available system/process data (e.g., cycle time, queue time, rework indicators, handoffs, and aging).
  • Evaluate how PRFs move through multiple stakeholders.
  • Identify & analyze bottlenecks, patterns, variability drivers, and common roadblocks across handoffs.
  • Segment work by meaningful categories (e.g., request type, complexity, required review groups) to identify patterns in delay and rework.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders (Procurement and cross-functional teams) to understand “work-as-done,” validate findings, and uncover constraints.
  • Support targeted improvement opportunities such as: reducing waiting/queues and rework loops; improving intake quality / “right- first-time ” inputs; identifying standard work opportunities and decision rules; making the process more measurable and transparent.
  • Produce clear deliverables and findings; prioritized improvement opportunities with estimated impact and feasibility.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
