Main Responsibilities: The Co-op position is based in the Data and Computational Science (DCS) department within the Sanofi mRNA Center of Excellence (mRNA CoE), supporting activities in the CMC data science group. This position will focus on developing machine learning (ML) models for different units, such as In Vitro Transcription (IVT) in drug substance process development. The candidate will have opportunities to learn about mRNA technology and unit operations, and to demonstrate the benefits of ML modeling in a non-GMP lab environment. The successful candidate will work with their supervisor to develop ML models for different unit operations. Activities include investigating how process parameters influence product quality attributes and uncertainty quantification, designing model-based DoE for model structure selection, and parameter optimization.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled and pursuing a bachelor's degree, master's degree, or PhD in Biology, Chemical or Biochemical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field at an accredited college or university with the expectation that you will complete your current degree by the Spring of 2028
  • Must be able to relocate to the office location and work 40hrs/week, Monday-Friday, for the full duration of the co-op/internship
  • Must be authorized to work in the US for the duration of the co-op

Nice To Haves

  • Basic understanding of mRNA technology.
  • Experience in ML, first principle, and hybrid dynamic modeling.
  • Familiarity with mathematical software and packages (Python-sklearn, Julia, MATLAB, PYOMO, gPROMS).
