About The Position

I am seeking summer internship students to work on one of a variety of projects in the area of using weak gravitational lensing measurements for constraining cosmology with data from the Vera C. Rubin Observatory Legacy Survey of Space and Time. Projects include, but are not limited to, testing advanced statistical inference techniques using automatic differentiation, testing new galaxy shape measurement techniques, and AI/ML approaches to data-intensive analysis tasks for object selection function characterization. All work will be done in Python with an emphasis on learning standard code review and continuous integration workflows applicable to a wide range of software engineering tasks in both academia and industry. Students will be positioned within the Cosmological Physics and Advanced Computing group at Argonne, and thus get broad exposure to a wide range of research, including theoretical structure formation and experimental CMB physics.
