About The Position
APPLICATION TIMELINE: Substitute applications will be accepted beginning March 1, 2026, with screening through April 4, 2026. The earliest possible start date for substitute work will be after April 8, 2026. QUALIFICATIONS FOR SUBSTITUTE TEACHER: 1. Former Cypress-Fairbanks ISD employee 2. Bachelor’s degree or higher from a recognized, accredited college or university. If you have a foreign transcript, it must be evaluated by a TEA-approved credential evaluation agency. Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills; 4. Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior. 5. Experience working with children preferred. 6. Flexible and able to adjust daily routine. 7. Demonstrate a professional appearance and attitude. 8. Fluency in speaking, reading, and understanding the English language is required. QUALIFICATIONS FOR SUBSTITUTE PARAPROFESSIONAL: 1. Former Cypress-Fairbanks ISD employee. 2. High school diploma or GED equivalent. 3. Associate's degree or 48 college credit hours from an accredited college or university, or have passed the Paraprofessional Proficiency Test. 4. Experience working with children preferred. 5. Flexible and able to adjust daily routine. 6. Demonstrate effective communication and interpersonal skills. 7. Demonstrate a professional appearance and attitude. 8. Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior. 9. Fluency in speaking, reading, and understanding the English language is required. ADDITIONAL APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS: One positive professional reference required. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Substitutes are employed on an at-will basis and are not considered contractual employees. FEES: There is a fingerprinting fee (approximately $50.00) associated with this application process. SUBSTITUTE TEACHER SALARY: DEGREED $110.00/day (daily assignments) $145/day - $180/day (long-term assignments) SUBSTITUTE PARAPROFESSIONAL SALARY: $85.00 - $95.00/day ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Responsible for implementing the District's instructional program and educational philosophy in the subject area or grade level designated, in accordance with district policies and procedures, on a day-to-day basis. WORKING CONDITIONS: Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Maintain emotional control under stress. Frequent standing, stooping, bending, pulling, and pushing.
