About The Position
APPLICATION TIMELINE: Substitute applications will be accepted beginning March 1, 2026, with screening through April 4, 2026. The earliest possible start date for substitute work will be after April 8, 2026. QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Substitute Degreed Teacher - Bachelor’s degree from a recognized, accredited college or university (If you have a foreign transcript, it must be evaluated by a TEA approved credential evaluation agency .) 2. Substitute Certified Teacher - Valid Texas Education Agency (TEA) certification 2. Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. 3. Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior. 4. Experience working with children preferred. 5. Flexible and able to adjust daily routine. 6. Demonstrate a professional appearance and attitude. 7. Fluency in speaking, reading, and understanding the English language is required. 8. Completion of the RIVS Virtual Interview within two (2) calendar days of application submission. ADDITIONAL APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS: One positive professional reference required. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Substitutes are employed on an at-will basis and are not considered contractual employees. FEES: There is a fingerprinting fee (approximately $50.00) associated with this application process. SALARY: $110.00/day (daily assignments) $145/day - $180/day (long-term assignments) ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Responsible for implementing the District's instructional program and educational philosophy in the subject area or grade level designated, in accordance with district policies and procedures on a day-to-day basis. 2. Regular and reliable attendance is an essential job function. WORKING CONDITIONS: Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Maintain emotional control under stress. Frequent standing, stooping, bending, pulling, and pushing. Move small stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desks, and other classroom equipment.
