About The Position

Substitutes are employed on an at-will basis and are not considered contractual employees. Substitute Para Educators/Paraprofessionals assist the teacher in the classroom or handle clerical duties to include answering phones or receptionist duties, workroom copying/stapling/sorting, etc.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Experience working with children preferred.
• Flexible and able to adjust daily routine.
• Demonstrate effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrate a professional appearance and attitude.
• Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior.
• Fluency in speaking, reading, and understanding the English language is required.
• Associate's degree or 48 college credit hours from an accredited college or university. (If you have a foreign transcript, it must be evaluated by a TEA-approved credential evaluation agency .)
• Earn a minimum score of 70 on both sections of the District’s Paraprofessional Proficiency Test. The test must be completed within two (2) days of submitting your application.
• Completion of the required RIVS Virtual Interview within two (2) calendar days of application submission.
• One positive professional reference required.

• Experience working with children preferred.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for implementing the District's instructional program and educational philosophy in the subject area or grade level designated, in accordance with district policies and procedures on a day-to-day basis.
• Regular and reliable attendance is an essential job function.
• Assist the teacher in the classroom
• Handle clerical duties to include answering phones or receptionist duties, workroom copying/stapling/sorting, etc.
