About The Position

Substitute teachers have many responsibilities, including classroom management, lesson plans, and following school policies . Substitute teachers need to be able to quickly understand and implement lesson plans, and manage classroom dynamics. They also need to be able to fit into the classroom seamlessly in the absence of the full-time teacher.

Responsibilities

• Classroom management
• Maintain order and discipline
• Create a positive learning environment
• Help students understand lessons
• Mentor and engage students
• Handle misbehavior and arguments
• Get and keep students' attention
• Review and implement lesson plans from the classroom teacher
• Present content prepared by the classroom teacher
• Help students with tasks
• Comply with and enforce school policies
• Observe and follow school policies
• Take attendance by marking students as present, late, or absent
• Change attendance states
• Quickly establish rapport and manage classroom dynamics
• Record and grade assignments
• Perform recess duty
• Maintain a safe and nurturing learning environment
