About The Position

Long Term Substitute - Structured Literacy/SPED Great Oak Elementary School is seeking a certified substitute teacher to cover a leave from approximately 11/19/25 - 1/28/26 (dates are subject to change). Must have current Connecticut certification Elementary 1-6 (305) or similar Experience with elementary school students In depth understanding of the Common Core Standards and their implications for instruction Experience with current evidence-based practices in Reading, Writing, and Mathematics Ability to maintain a strong instructional focus utilizing the elements of effective instruction and communicate a high level of expectation and clear learning goals to students Experience adapting instruction to meet the needs of all students and conducting ongoing assessments for learning Ability to use relevant technology to support and differentiate instruction Responsible for creating a positive and safe learning environment, establishing rapport with students, parents and colleagues; motivating students to develop attitudes and knowledge that will help them reach their potential Able to direct and supervise instructional assistants Desire to work in an inclusionary model Proactive team player and effective communicator Participate in ongoing professional growth Participate in school/professional and/or community organizations or events

Requirements

  • Must have current Connecticut certification Elementary 1-6 (305) or similar
