About The Position

The Substitute Custodian is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly environment within the school facilities. This position requires flexibility and the ability to perform routine custodial tasks, including cleaning classrooms, restrooms, hallways, and common areas, as well as assisting with minor maintenance and setup for school activities.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Prior custodial or janitorial experience is a plus but not required.
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks such as bending, reaching, and standing for extended periods.
Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as needed.
Ability to pass a background check as required by school district policies.

Responsibilities

Sweep, mop, vacuum, and disinfect floors in classrooms, hallways, and other school areas.
Clean and sanitize restrooms, including toilets, sinks, mirrors, and replenishing supplies.
Empty trash and recycling bins and dispose of waste properly.
Dust and wipe down surfaces such as desks, tables, and windows.
Perform minor maintenance tasks such as changing light bulbs and unclogging sinks/toilets.
Ensure hallways and exits are clear of obstructions and hazards.
Report any maintenance or safety concerns to the Head Custodian or Facilities Manager.
Secure doors and windows at the end of shifts as required.
Assist in setting up and breaking down tables, chairs, and equipment for school events.
Move furniture and supplies as needed.
