Assist parents as needed when they walk into the office. Be responsible for computer functions performed in the office Assist sick and injured students Serve as a receptionist Exercise initiative in developing creative activities to supplement and reinforce learning Assist the teacher in keeping materials stored in proper places when not in use Conduct group activities as needed Aide in the construction of teaching aides and materials Be familiar with and able to operate audio-visual equipment Assist the teacher in preparing work materials, e.g., laminating, typing Exercise firm but kind control of student’s behavior, abiding by the teacher’s policy Assist in duty as assigned by the school principal Assist the teacher with classroom control emphasizing courtesy and good manners Be subject to transfer or reassignment as necessary Knowledge of computers would be helpful Be familiar with fire exits, fire drill procedures, severe storm and tornado warning procedures. Review notes for the day, take attendance and follow the lesson plans of the teacher Maintain confidentiality as defined by the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) Demonstrate the ability to adapt to circumstances. Exhibit good judgment and use appropriate language or behavior while on assignment Report for duty 15 minutes early and remain on duty for the entire assignment, including planning time of the teacher Other Job Functions: Abide by state statutes, school board policies and regulations. Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulation. Leave detailed notes for teacher/office on any issues experienced during the day. Other duties as assigned by the Principal, or the Substitute Office
