About The Position

The S.I.M. (Simulation Instruction Multimedia) Lab at Florida Polytechnic University offers a variety of multi-media services and resources to faculty, students, and staff, supporting the University’s educational mission. This lab collaborates with various campus departments, supports student organizations, and academic projects. The student technician role involves contributing to project development for the Lab’s clientele. The SIM Lab handles a high volume of work, requiring students to focus and work efficiently to meet deadlines and quality standards. The technician is expected to maintain the highest degree of professionalism. This position provides a valuable opportunity to learn new software and equipment, share knowledge, and create various media and video assets. Student workers must uphold professionalism and ensure safety within the lab, and be proficient in learning diverse content creation software.

Requirements

  • Strong experience with some or all the following: Adobe Creative Cloud Suite (particularly Premiere Pro, Audition, After Effects, Photoshop, and Illustrator)
  • Strong experience with Blender
  • Strong experience with Autodesk products (particularly Maya, 3DS Max)
  • Coding experience in C++ and Unity Hub
  • Video/Audio Production and editing skills
  • Must be currently enrolled or attending classes at Florida Polytechnic University
  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Must have a cumulative GPA of at least a 2.25 and have successfully completed 9 credits or more in the most recent fall or spring semester with a GPA of 2.0 or better
  • Skills with Production Equipment
  • Skills with Production Software
  • Passion for the SIM Lab environment
  • Requires a criminal background check
  • Subject to federal and state privacy regulations

Responsibilities

  • Maintain professionalism and ensure the safety of oneself and those who are in the lab
  • Learn a variety of content creation software
  • Understand OSHA compliance within the lab and operate the lab in a fashion that is secure and safe
  • Assemble a safe shooting environment in the SIM Lab Studio
  • Exhibit positive interactivity with clients entering the lab and be able to provide support to those individuals in an organized and timely fashion
