About The Position

The S.I.M. (Simulation Instruction Multimedia) Lab at Florida Polytechnic University offers a range of multi-media services and resources to faculty, students, and staff, supporting the University’s educational mission. The lab engages in collaborations with various campus departments, provides support to student organizations, and assists with academic student projects, among other activities. The student technician role involves contributing to project development tailored to the needs of the Lab’s clientele. The SIM Lab handles a high volume of work, requiring students to maintain focus and efficiency to help clients meet deadlines and quality standards. The technician is expected to uphold the highest degree of professionalism. This Student Lab Support position in the SIM Lab presents an excellent opportunity to acquire proficiency in new software and equipment, and to share this knowledge with others while creating diverse media and video assets. The student worker is responsible for maintaining professionalism and ensuring the safety of themselves and others within the lab. The ability to learn a variety of content creation software is also crucial for this role.

Requirements

  • Strong experience with some or all the following: Adobe Creative Cloud Suite (particularly Premiere Pro, Audition, After Effects, Photoshop, and Illustrator)
  • Strong experience with some or all the following: Blender
  • Strong experience with some or all the following: Autodesk products (particularly Maya, 3DS Max)
  • Coding experience in C++ and Unity Hub
  • Video/Audio Production and editing
  • Must be currently enrolled or attending classes at Florida Polytechnic University
  • Complete a current year, error free and verified, Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
  • Demonstrate Finance Need, through completion of the FAFSA and review of current financial aid awards
  • Meet Satisfactory Academic Progress, as defined by Florida Polytechnic University
  • This position requires a criminal background check
  • This position is subject to federal and state privacy regulations

Responsibilities

  • Maintain professionalism and ensure the safety of oneself and those who are in the lab
  • Understand OSHA compliance within the lab and operate the lab in a fashion that is secure and safe
  • Assemble a safe shooting environment in the SIM Lab Studio
  • Positive interactivity with clients entering the lab and be able to provide support to those individuals in an organized and timely fashion
