About The Position

The Moody Makerspace is looking for a creative, friendly, and outgoing student with a passion for educating others about "making." The Makerspace provides students, faculty, and staff access to various creative tools and equipment, including 3D printers, laser engravers, vinyl cutters, embroidery machines, bike repair, and various hand and powered tools. Maker Mentors are responsible for overseeing the use of this equipment and providing guidance to patrons on their projects. This involves brainstorming, teaching, and assisting with equipment and tool use throughout the project lifecycle. Ideal candidates are proactive, eager to learn, friendly, and enthusiastic about welcoming others to the world of making.

Responsibilities

Consulting with patrons on making activities for both academic and personal projects.
Training patrons on the use of the various tools and equipment.
Providing excellent customer service to patrons.
Cleaning and organizing the space according to assigned shift duties.
Staffing the Makerspace during open hours.
Facilitating Makerspace orientations, workshops, and trainings.
Helping with Makerspace functions around campus.
Assisting with training new employees.
Assisting with various projects, activities and tasks related to the Makerspace (Booths at Freshman Orientation, Diadeloso, Christmas on 5th Street, etc.).
Continually improving upon personal skills and familiarity with the available equipment.
Completing all assigned training in a punctual manner.
Maintaining regular and punctual attendance.
