The State Archives serves as the central depository for government records of permanent value. Its holdings date from Maryland's founding in 1634, and include colonial and state executive, legislative, and judicial records; county probate, land, and court records; church records; business records; state publications and reports; and special collections of private papers, maps, photographs, and newspapers. The Archives' Summer Internship Program provides opportunities for students interested in computer science, information technology, and related fields to gain valuable experience in the field through hands-on participation in actual development projects that will be used in the day-to-day fulfillment of the Archives’ core functions of preservation and access. This position is an educational learning opportunity for Maryland students within a program that has been provided by the Archives for over forty years. The position is a ten week internship for undergraduate college and graduate school students to get hands-on experience and on-the-job training in the field of Information Technology.
