About The Position

Working under the guidance of the Assistant Vice Provost - Student Success and Director, One Stop Student Services Center within the Division of Enrollment Management, the Student Success Specialist will play a vital role in supporting a diverse population of students in a coordinated effort throughout their academic journey. The primary responsibility will be to advocate for students by providing proactive outreach and helping them navigate campus resources to overcome challenges and ensure their success at Temple. This position will practice data-driven outreach, proactive resource referral, and timely/holistic interventions to meet the needs of students, especially those with complex issues that may span multiple offices/areas. Performs other duties as assigned. This position requires a background check and Child Abuse Certifications prior to the commencement of service.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Two (2) years of directly related student services experience working in academic advising, academic support, financial aid, student affairs, or related field in higher education.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and report generation.
  • Excellent interpersonal and oral communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with a diverse group of employers, students, faculty, and staff.
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare concise, accurate, and high-quality written work and maintain meticulous attention to detail.
  • Ability to maintain a consistently positive and objective constituent service approach.
  • Ability to manage time effectively while balancing multiple tasks.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills and ability to use independent judgment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated commitment to student success and equity in education.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams
  • Ability to learn new and emerging technologies.
  • Familiarity with student information systems.

Nice To Haves

  • Proficient in common University-specific computer application programs such as Banner, TUMarketplace, Concur, Kronos and Taleo or similar ERP systems.
  • Ability to assist processing graduate TA/RA contracts, including verifying eligibility, tracking funding source, coordinating with Payroll, and ensuring compliance with institutional and union guidelines
