About The Position

Oversees retention and/or transfer efforts for students who are considered at risk of failing, dropping out of school, or transferring to another school or program. Serves as a resource to faculty, staff, and students. The TRIO Student Support Services (SSS) Student Success Coach provides holistic, individualized support for first-generation, income-eligible students and students with disabilities at UW–Green Bay. Through proactive outreach, culturally responsive guidance, and intentional relationship-building, the Coach serves as a consistent point of contact for an assigned caseload, working to foster belonging, promote academic persistence, and support student empowerment. Responsibilities include completing intake assessments to identify each student’s strengths and needs, developing personalized academic and personal success plans, and maintaining ongoing, meaningful communication throughout the semester. The Coach offers guidance, connects students to campus and community resources, facilitates skill-building and self-advocacy workshops, and collaborates closely with faculty, advisors, and campus partners to ensure coordinated wraparound support, while tracking progress and documenting interactions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, self-prioritize, meet deadlines and remain flexible to shifting priorities
  • Exceptional organization skills and attention to detail in all aspects of the job
  • Demonstrated commitment to student development, support and success

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in education, student affairs, counseling, social work or related field
  • 2 years’ experience working in higher education
  • Demonstrated experience in supporting institutional efforts for equity and access
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively on a team and independently in a high-volume work setting
  • Experience working with diverse underrepresented and first-generation students
  • Demonstrated computer proficiency with the ability to use spreadsheet, word processing and internet-based software/applications
  • Proficiency in speaking and reading a second language, preferably Spanish

Responsibilities

  • Adheres to the established plan of operation, curriculum, process policy, program procedures, and all other related federal regulations
  • Monitors, plans, and facilitates student academic progress, student programming, and success plans
  • Provides referrals to appropriate campus resources
  • Advocates for campus-wide retention initiatives
  • Makes recommendations to improve retention efforts
  • Communicates, assists, and monitors progress of students
  • May assist with Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) completion and/or provide financial aid/scholarship information
  • Maintains accurate student records including contact logs, case notes, and files
  • Partners with academic advisors, faculty, staff, students, and administrative personnel to track analytics, and help identify risk indicators to support data-informed retention and transfer strategies
