About The Position

The primary purpose of this position will advise and consult on implementation and enhancement of policies and processes, analyze data and generate information to identify barriers to retention and academic progression, create outreach to students identified as at-risk, and collaborate with academic advisors on students encountering academic or institutional challenges. The Student Success Advocacy Coordinator will work directly with students and will advise any at-risk undergraduate student concerning their academic plans and progress, academic schedule, choice of major, and other academic activities and career goals. Student Success Advocacy Coordinator will focus on specific subject matters that are identified as having persistence challenges or those who are “at-risk” for persistence or graduation.

  • Master's or Bachelor's degree and 2+ years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and implements effective retention programs and early outreach plans to enhance persistence and completion of students and coordinate the implementation and administration of departmental processes and/or programs.
  • Collaborates with, and coordinates amongst, academic and non-academic departments to provide information on targeted intervention strategies for students identified as “at-risk” of not persisting or completing.
  • Makes recommendations to university administration for improvements to enhance the effectiveness of persistence and completion programs across the university.
  • Advises faculty, deans, chairs, and university administration on recommendations for changes in academic policy, procedures, and processes related to enhancing undergraduate student first year persistence, retention, and completion across UNF departments and systems.
  • Conducts professional development sessions, workshops, and trainings for staff, advisors, and students addressing areas where misinformation or new information causes issues with.
  • Leads ad-hoc teams or groups in undertaking coordinated efforts across colleges and units.
  • Resolves individual student issues that involve coordination between multiple offices at the university.
  • Advises students with regard to understanding institutional policy and processes, reviewing available options, and resolving issues.
  • Develop the academic coaching program.
  • Identify, write, and submit grant proposals for the office.
  • Other duties as assigned.
