About The Position

Join us as a Student Services Specialist and help students access funding, stay on track, and reach their goals. If you love a good spreadsheet and a good success story, this role has your name on it. In this position, you'll connect students with funding that supports retention and completion while ensuring all SOWIB/WOIA/ETPL requirements are met. You'll identify students who qualify for various funding sources, walk them through eligibility steps, and help meet program goals. You'll also provide outreach, advising, mentoring, and personalized career and college coaching to support students completing their GED or college programs. When needed, you'll refer students to campus and community partners for additional support. This role works independently under the Director of Student Community Services and contributes to the Student Services Work Plan and the College's Strategic Doing Plan.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree or equivalent work experience required.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of grant tracking, reporting, and accounting required.
  • Proficiency in utilization of spreadsheet, word processing, ort other database software required.
  • Experience developing and presenting seminars, workshops, and/or trainings.
  • Demonstrated skills working with students, in particular developing quality mentor relationships.
  • Demonstrated sensitivity and experience working with students and/or individuals from diverse social, economic, academic, and cultural backgrounds.
  • Current Oregon driver's license and good driving record required, as well as willingness to provide own transportation.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in relevant subject area preferred.
  • Student services experience in higher education.
  • Previous experience with unemployed, under-employed, low-income, veterans, re-entry, disabled, dislocated workers, English Language Learners, GED students, first generation immigrants and/or first-generation students.
  • Experience in case management, crisis intervention, employment services, recruitment, training programs, social work, or related experience.
  • Experience working with workforce systems and resources.
