Student Nurse Tech Neuro ICU PRN
About The Position
The Neuro ICU at Barnes-Jewish Hospital is a specialized, state-of-the-art unit dedicated to the care of patients with complex neurological conditions. As a nursing professional in this unit, you'll be part of a multidisciplinary team focused on providing advanced care for patients with conditions such as traumatic brain injuries, strokes, brain tumors, spinal cord injuries, and other critical neurological disorders. The nursing team collaborates closely with neurologists, neurosurgeons, and other healthcare professionals to deliver individualized care plans tailored to each patient's needs. This environment offers opportunities for continuous learning and professional growth, supported by ongoing education and training programs. The role provides multi-skilled, direct patient care, under the direction and supervision of a registered professional nurse, and requires completion of a foundational nursing skills course or equivalent (fundamentals, foundations, or adult/peds health).
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in an accredited School of Nursing
- Must have completed Nursing Fundamentals Course
- Enrolled-accredited RN program
- No Experience
Nice To Haves
- Nurse Assistant, Patient Care Tech, or Student Nurse Tech experience
- Enrolled-accredited BSN program
Responsibilities
- Assists nurse with patient and family education.
- Documents all patient care activities provided with correct medical terminology.
- Acts as 1:1 patient safety sitter as necessary.
- Ensures availability of supplies and equipment to meet each patient's needs.
- Implements direct patient care under the supervision of the nursing team.
- Collects clinical data and information on patients and reports abnormal findings to the nurse.
- Instructs patients in preparations for tests and procedures.
